Notary Requirements

Follow these simple steps to become an Arizona notary public or to renew your Arizona notary commission.

The process for a New Arizona Notary & a Renewing Arizona Notary is exactly the same. Renewing Notaries may not need to order a new Notary Journal if there are spaces left in the Journal currently being used.

To become a Notary in Arizona, you:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be a citizen or a legal permanent resident of the U.S.
  • Must NOT have a conviction for a felony UNLESS your civil rights have been restored, or a conviction of a lesser offense involving moral turpitude or of a nature that is incompatible with the duties of a notary public.
  • Must be an Arizona Resident for income tax purposes.
  • Must NOT have had a professional license revoked or suspended for misconduct or dishonesty or any cause that substantially relates to the duties or responsibilities of a notary public, or had your notary commission revoked or suspended. The Secretary of State may refuse to grant you a commission in such a case.

Steps to Apply or Renew:

  • File online by choosing one of the Packages or Products from the Order page.
  • File by mail by completing the Order Form and Notary Application (Enter and sign your name exactly as you would like it to appear on your commission certificate).
  • Mail completed order form, notary application along with payment to the following address: 15610 N 35th Ave, Ste 5, Phoenix, AZ 85053.
  • Once we receive your notary application and order form, we will send you the surety bond to be signed and notarized and mailed back to our office.
  • Once we receive the Arizona Notary Bond from you, we will file the Bond and Notary Application with the Secretary of State’s Office.
  • We will Track your Notary Commission throughout the entire process.

Approximately 4-5 weeks after filing with us, you will receive your notary commission certificate in the mail. Once you receive the certificate, fax it to our office and your Notary Seal & Journal will be mailed to you. This will complete the processing of your notary commission.
